My Promise to You

Psalm 98: Goodness Revealed

“The Lord has made his salvation known
and revealed his righteousness to the nations.”

Psalm 98:2

God’s goodness is the greatest desire and the sweetest delight of our soul.

When we’re dislocated from his goodness, our hearts cry by the pain of spiritual malnourishment. But when his goodness comes near and is made known to us, joy becomes our heart’s song.

In his kindness, God does not withhold his goodness from us. He doesn’t remain distant, nor does he leave us in the dark. In Jesus, he makes his righteousness known to us: the purity of his being and the perfection of his ways. He communicates his will to us and in no way leaves us guessing about the security of our future.

In Christ, salvation comes to light. Rescue from sin; restoration from sickness; reconciliation with God; resurrection from death. All these things are on display in Jesus, and all are available to us through faith in him alone.

Because God is good, and in Christ, he mediates that goodness to us. Nothing in the world is worth knowing more than that.
