A Prayer

Father. You have redeemed us by the blood of your Son. In him, we have been freed from the slavery of sin and death. By your Spirit, your promise has permeated the ages and taken our hearts captive according to your boundless goodness.

Apart from you, my gracious God, I have no good thing. Your strength is my salvation, your majesty my might. And yet I know how easily I can be enamoured by earthly delights. Allow me never to forget your surpassing greatness. Help me not to deviate from your ways. Train me in obedience so that I may walk the path of life.

Give me the wisdom to recognise that there is no satisfaction in anything apart from you.  Help me to appreciate all you are and all you do.  Give me ears to hear my saviour’s voice and give me a heart willing to receive his guidance daily.
