A Prayer

Gracious heavenly Father, majestic Lord, thank you for making yourself known and revealing your character. You are our provider and protector, the father of lights from whom every good thing comes.

Father: illuminate us with your glory. Shine your light on us that the darkness of our hearts may be subdued and our way straightened. Enable us to see your Son, our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ, with fresh eyes of thankfulness every day, knowing that he holds our future securely.

As our protector, Lord, guard us against the deception Satan loves to put before us. Shield us from his lies and temptations. Strengthen us by your Spirit to have discernment, wisdom and the self-control not to be lured by the false values he advocates.

Without you, gracious Father, we are blind and weak, destined to stumble and fall. But you are a God who gives. Through your word and in your Son, you bestow goodness, kindness, love and integrity. He alone is blameless, and in your mercy, you clothe us in his perfection, cancelling our debt, covering our shame. Shape us into his image. Conform us to his likeness.

Help us know and never forget the great blessing of walking with him as our Saviour.
