A prayer

Gracious heavenly Father, Lord of all creation,

Our gratitude and thankfulness will never run deep enough to match the everlasting faithfulness you have poured out on us, your people.  From before the world’s creation, you had the eternal good of your people in mind.  Your eyes watched over us even in an unformed state. You pre-destined us in Christ to be blameless in your sight and to enjoy every spiritual blessing in him.   

Your commitment to the good of your creation is our overwhelming hope. While the world groans under the weight of sin and its consequences, you do not walk away.  In Christ, you approach with the open hand of reconciliation and the strong arm of rescue.  Humble us to trust you.

Your righteousness is our joy, and we pray you would help us live in obedience to your ways in increasing measure. Watch over us and sustains us with your word. Lead us on the right path of faith. Steer us from the folly of wickedness. 

Help us to be both trusting and trustworthy. Enrich us with the power of your Spirit to be always in awe of your life-giving power and your eternal promises in Christ. May our lives together be a wonderful expression of trust in your faithfulness.

Thank you, dear God, for your promise to us.
