My Promise to You

Psalm 12: Flawless

“And the words of the Lord are flawless,
like silver purified in a crucible,
like gold refined seven times.”

Psalm 12:6

On the lips of a wicked man, words can be weapons of unspeakable destruction. Promises uttered are nothing more than webs of deceit. They are effective at holding you as prey, yet hold absolutely no power to furnish a relationship.

On the lips of God, though, words are sweeter than anything we can imagine. From his lips the world was created, from his lips life finds its vitality. From his lips, promises and prophecies and moral guidance all direct us on the path of life.

His word is utterly perfect and so is perfectly trustworthy. There is not a trace of impurity in him or his promise that should ever cause us to doubt. The word of the Lord endures forever, it never fails to achieve its purpose. It breathes life into the dead.

When we open the bible, we expose our hearts and minds to a treasury of riches. How blessed we are to have him speak to us. How comforting it is to hear how all his promises find their yes in Christ. In a world of deceit, how cheerful our souls become when they breathe the fresh air of the gospel.

May we continue to be nourished by the flawless perfection of his word, so we may be transformed more and more into the flawlessness of his image.
