A Prayer

Father God,

We praise you for your everlasting goodness to us.  Without you, our lives would be temporary and hopeless.  But your eternal glory offers us endless sustenance and direction.  Under you, and because of your unfailing love, we know our future is sure.

Lord, this confidence only comes because of how you’ve made yourself known to us. Thank you for opening our eyes to your glory and uncovering our sin while also revealing your salvation. Your word is a lamp to our feet and a light to our path.  How lost we would be without it. Thank you for not being silent but for speaking into our darkness and granting us the light of life.

Help us, God, never to stray from the path you have so graciously illuminated for us.  Bind us to Jesus by the power of your Spirit more and more daily.  Soak us in your word so we may ever walk in the light of his grace.

Give us the wisdom to apply the gospel to our daily activities and interactions. Shape us by your grace, forgiveness, mercy and love. We pray you would work in us so we can be a blessing to others and so they might sing their praises to you.

Father, keep our eyes fixed on the eternal kingdom you’ve secured for us in your Son.
