five horizons

When words alone won’t do

A Storm of Raging Why

Lights go out, howling wind
A storm of raging why
Claps of death rend the soul
The sun drops from the sky

Falling into arms you loved
Sweet heart under my hands
But lips which met a thousand times
Could not prise death’s dark bands

Cold tendrils penetrating
with sour winter chill
Trembling. Shaking. Unrelenting
Time is frozen still

And where’s the sun to thaw it?
Will it ever rise again?
Or will the isolation of this pit
Remain my closest friend?

For I’ve woken to no morning
Since that frightful winter night.
And the only thing that’s dawning now
Is this endless lonely plight.

Without you days just don’t exist.
No light paints the sky.
And all I hear is howling in this
storm of raging why.
