five horizons

When words alone won’t do

Living Water

Wearied by his journey,
worn down by ancient sand,
Christ the king of glory
in withered form of man.

Parched in barren desert,
he sits beside a well
holding timeless promise
of God with man to dwell.

CHORUS
Lord, give me living water.
Give me ev’rything I need
to fill my dark horizon
and subdue my treach’rous sea.
Lord, pour your living water
on my wayward barren heart
so I can praise you always.
Let your Spirit not depart.

Scarred by stolen beauty,
she yearns for some relief.
Burdened by life’s duty,
alone in midday heat.

Stumbling on a stranger
from fractured history past
“Will you give me water?”
this stranger dares to ask.

“How is it you’d venture
across forbidden lines
Treat me more than equal
Despite our great divide?”

“Oh, if you only knew
the gift to whom you speak.
Grace with endless limits,
for a life with love replete”

CHORUS
Lord, give me living water
Give me ev’rything I need
To fill my dark horizon
And subdue my treach’rous sea
Lord, pour your living water
On my wayward barren heart
So I can praise you always
Let your Spirit not depart

Drink this living water.
Enjoy its endless flow.
I offer it to you
to stem your earthly woe

I know what you’ve endured.
I know your worldly pain.
I offer you new life.
Please trust me when I say

“The time is drawing close
The hour is almost here
When death, divorce, disease
Will ever disappear

Know my father’s goodness
His timeless loved decreed
In Spirit and in truth
Your saviour, I am he.”

CHORUS
Lord, give me living water
Give me ev’rything I need
To fill my dark horizon
And subdue my treach’rous sea
Lord, pour your living water
On my wayward barren heart
So I can praise you always
Let your Spirit not depart
